What does an acoustic guitar sound like?

If you think you know the answer, you may have to reconsider after listening to Shane Dooley perform.

Shane composes Kaleidoscopic, post-rock, Live-Looped music by coaxing an astonishing range of tones from his acoustic guitar (which he constructed himself) with which he masterfully builds Innovative and imaginal compositions live onstage. His songs often astound listeners with more than 10 looped layers playing simultaneously as he confidently forages into the improvisational and ambient while retaining a sense of song-writing and forward motion. Full immersion of the listener into realms where sounds tell stories and elicit deeply personal responses is the goal of Shane's live shows.  Fans of Kaki King, Explosions in the Sky and Michael Hedges will surely appreciate his unique approach to song writing.

Shane's debut album "Out of the Loop" was released in 2012 and is available to stream under the "Listen" tab above. In addition to performing as a solo act, his side projects have included playing live jazz and trip-hop for burlesque performances in Boulder for Boulder Burlesque, performing live with avant-cellist Sam Rae Sidwell and violinist Jeb Bows, supporting troubadour Luke Redfield performing live improvised ambient music for founder of Shakti Yoga Journal Shareshten Kerry's yin yoga classes, and sharing the stage with fellow avant-guitarist looping wizard Michael Garfield. Shane is an avid attendee of the Burning Man arts and culture festival in Black Rock City, NV and has performed at center camp. Shane currently resides in Austin, Texas.

Shane earned his Luthier Certificate from Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, Arizona and operated his stringed instrument repair and restoration business, "Dooley Guitars," from 2010 to 2014 in Longmont, Colorado.
